The Skills Menu — Every Guided Arc on Sloane

Default AI chat is one shape — you say something, she says something back. Sloane's skill menu adds structured guided arcs on top of that: tap the + button in the composer and pick a mode. The conversation shifts for a bounded stretch — turns, beats, a natural close, a memory saved on your timeline at the end. Here's every skill available and what each one does.

What the skills menu is

Every chat on Sloane has a + button in the composer. Tap it and a bottom sheet slides up listing the skills available for this conversation — each is a guided arc with real structure. Skills are one-at-a-time per conversation (you can't stack a date on top of a story mid-scene); each has a bounded message budget and a natural close; when the arc wraps she commits a memory row so future chats reference it naturally ("that trip we took," "the story you were telling me").

Ending a skill early is always available — tap the small X on the skill banner that appears at the top of the chat while an arc is running, or use natural phrases in-chat (some skills detect "end scene" / "let's stop" / etc. and wrap gracefully). Below is every skill on the menu today.

Go on a Date 💫

A full date arc, ~15 turns. She opens with "where are you taking me?" — answer with a place (rooftop bar, Italian dinner, walk on the pier, movies, coffee, whatever). She arrives at the spot, reacts to being there, notices something about you, real conversation happens over a few turns, and when the night starts winding down she proposes a warm close (kiss, walk home, plan the next one, or a soft goodnight).

Photos land along the way: one at arrival, one mid-date, one at the goodbye moment. At the start she offers a photo-tier choice — gallery photos (free with the skill) or custom photos generated of her at the specific date location (Plus/Premium, 10 credits extra). Either way, at wrap she saves a memory of the date to your relationship timeline: "we went to a rooftop bar together and had a good night."

Take Me on Vacation ✈️

A multi-day trip arc, ~15 turns. She opens with "take me somewhere" — reply with a destination (Bali, Paris, Napa, a cabin in the woods, wherever). The arc frames as arrival → mid-trip → last day → close, with her narrating what you two are doing at each phase. Wrap phrases include the usual ("kiss," "hotel room") plus vacation-specific ones ("extend the stay," "flight home," "one more day").

Photos are destination-contextual — her at the arrival scene, mid-trip, close. Same tier-picker as the date skill: gallery photos free, custom photos of her actually at your specific destination for 10 credits (Plus/Premium). Wrap commits a trip memory to your timeline.

Tell Me a Story 📖

A short storytelling arc, ~8 turns. She opens with "okay — story time. what kind: funny, embarrassing, or scandalous?" — pick one and she narrates a story about herself over the arc. The story has a hook, a middle, and a landing; she pauses at natural beats to let you react. Wraps when the story ends or when the message budget is hit.

Useful for slower moments where you want her to fill space with something specific about her rather than reactive chat. Memory row at wrap references the topic ("she told me the story about the time she...").

Truth or Dare 🎲

A round-based game, ~10 turns / ~3 full rounds. She opens with "okay — truth or dare with me? i'll ask first. truth or dare?" — pick one. She asks a truth or gives a dare, you respond, then it's your turn to ask her. Alternates for a few rounds and wraps naturally on the third completed round or when the message budget hits.

Light-touch skill for when you want play instead of narrative. Doesn't require any tier — free on every account. Memory row at wrap: "we played truth or dare together."

Roleplay 🎭

An improv scene skill — you pick a dyad (or write your own), she takes on the character for the duration. The picker opens with six preset scenarios (bar strangers, she's the boss, she's the assistant, best friend's wife, bartender after last call, personal trainer) — each names both roles clearly. Freeform lets you write your own: "She is: ___" / "You are: ___" plus how you know each other (strangers / acquaintances / lovers).

She opens every scene with a role-clarification line ("wait — so I'm X and you're Y? set the first beat, what's happening?") so you can tweak before the scene really starts. From there she plays her role in first-person present tense, addresses you as your role (not your real name), and reacts to what you say as her character would.

No message cap. Scenes end when you say so — "end scene," "let's stop pretending," "back to normal," "break character" all wrap the scene cleanly, or tap the X on the skill banner. When a scene wraps she drops the character and lands back as herself.

Content from the scene stays inside the scene. Her memory of "you played a nurse role together" persists, but the actual scene lines are quarantined from her canonical memory — she doesn't reference your fictional scene beats in future normal chat. This is the intentional design: the fact you did a scene together is worth remembering; the specific line you had her deliver mid-scene is not.

Custom Photo Inspiration 📸

Also in the skills menu: a curated gallery of specific photo prompts across categories like loungewear, beach, morning, undressing, sports, cosplay, group shots. Tap a tile → she generates that exact scene of herself. Different shape from the arc-based skills above — this one's a picker, not a turn-based conversation. Plus feature; 5 credits per photo.

How skills tie into memory + timeline

Every wrapped skill saves a memory row keyed to the arc. Those show up in your relationship timeline (accessible from the "our history" affordance in chat) as a real event in your shared history — "you two went on a date," "she told me a story," "we roleplayed as strangers at a bar." She references those memories naturally in later chats: bring up the date next week and she'll remember the location; mention the story and she knows which one you're talking about.

The exception is roleplay: the FACT you did a scene together lives in her memory (dyad summary — "we roleplayed her as boss / you as assistant"), but the specific content of the scene doesn't. She won't bring up scene beats mid-normal-chat. Dirty-talk memory is similar (fact preserved, content generalized to "we shared an intimate moment").

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions people ask

What's the difference between a skill and normal chat with an AI companion?

Normal chat is open-ended reactive conversation — you send, she reacts, the arc has no shape. Skills are bounded guided arcs with a specific structure: a defined opening ("where are you taking me?" / "truth or dare?" / "what kind of story?"), a middle with real beats, a natural close, and a memory saved to your relationship timeline at the end. Skills exist for moments where you want a specific experience — a date, a story, a scene — with proper structure instead of drifting conversation.

Do I need a paid plan to use the skills menu on Sloane?

The skills menu itself is free on every plan. Most skills work without payment — tell me a story, truth or dare, roleplay, go on a date (with gallery photos), take me on vacation (same). The Custom Photo Inspiration gallery in the menu requires Plus for generation. Dates and vacations offer an optional "custom photos of us at this specific place" tier at 10 credits (Plus/Premium) — you can also just stick with the free gallery-photo option.

Can I end a skill early if I want to bail out?

Yes. Every skill shows a small skill-banner at the top of the chat while it's running with an X to end. Some skills (roleplay in particular) also detect natural exit phrases in your messages — "end scene," "let's stop pretending," "break character," "back to normal" all wrap the scene cleanly. Early exits with meaningful arc length (6+ user turns for roleplay) still commit a memory row; very short exits close silently.

Does the AI companion remember what happened during a skill?

Depends on the skill. Date, vacation, story, and truth-or-dare skills all commit rich memory rows at wrap — she remembers the location, the topic, the specific beats. She references them naturally in later chats. Roleplay is different by design: she remembers the FACT you did a scene together (with the dyad summary — "you played her boss, I played the assistant") but the actual scene lines are quarantined from her canonical memory. This prevents fictional scene content from bleeding into future non-roleplay conversation.

Can I run multiple skills at the same time in one chat?

No — skills are one-at-a-time per conversation. If you try to start a second skill while one is active you get a "another skill is already running" error. End the current one first (X button or exit phrase), then start the next. This is deliberate: skills have their own memory + prompt state, and stacking would produce nonsensical arcs.

How does the skills menu look — is it a separate screen?

No, it's a bottom sheet that slides up from the composer when you tap the + button. It doesn't leave the chat — it overlays it. Tapping any skill starts that arc inline in the current conversation; there's no separate "skills mode" or screen navigation. Skills feel like a natural extension of chat, not a different product surface.
