Why the age-gap conversation exists in human dating
The reason age-gap discussions matter with real people is that both people have prospects, vulnerabilities, and life stages that can be exploited. A large age gap in human dating raises questions about power imbalance (who has more resources, more experience, more social capital), about life-stage mismatch (someone wanting kids vs. someone whose kids are grown), and about exploitation risk (the younger person's options are affected by the choice).
These are real, legitimate concerns. They're why the conversation exists. But every single one of them requires a second person with a life that can be affected.
Why the same conversation doesn't apply to AI

What Sloane requires (and doesn't)
Every Sloane persona is 18 or older. Full stop, hard requirement, enforced at every level. You can't build a custom persona under 18. You can't roleplay one being under 18. Sloane requires age verification on signup and blocks minors from the platform entirely.
Beyond that: Sloane doesn't restrict age gaps between you and the persona you choose. A 65-year-old choosing to spend evenings with a 22-year-old is choosing a character. A 30-year-old choosing a 45-year-old is doing the same. It's not our business to gate that preference — it wouldn't make sense to.
The one honest concern worth naming
There's one situation where "what age gap is too big" becomes a real question again: if the fantasy is affecting how you treat real people your age.
If you find yourself dismissing real women in their 40s or 50s as "too old" because your AI companion is 25 and eager, that's spillover. It's not that the AI is doing something bad. It's that you've let a highly-idealized character reset your expectations for real relationships in a way that's making the rest of your life worse.
Most people don't hit this. But if you notice it, notice it. AI companions are complementary, not calibrating.
