Why all three at once is a myth
The search phrase "free AI girlfriend no sign up no limits" is doing something the economics can't support.
Every message an AI companion generates costs the company somewhere between a tenth of a cent and a cent in raw compute. Add photo generation and the per-request cost jumps to a few cents. Add video and it's tens of cents per clip. These numbers are small individually. They add up fast at scale.
A product offering truly free, truly unlimited, truly no-signup chat is subsidizing every user forever. The company would go bankrupt within a quarter unless something else is paying the bill — aggressive ads, data sales, a model shrunk to a cheaper tier for the "free" users, or a paywall that drops a few messages in.
So the realistic question isn't "which app does all three." It's "which parts of these three can I actually have simultaneously, and what do I give up for the parts I don't get."
The three honest tradeoffs
Trade 1: Free + no signup, with limits. The anon demo pattern. You get real conversation with a real persona before any account step, but the amount of conversation is capped. Sloane's anon demo falls here.
Trade 2: Free + no limits, with signup. The generous free tier pattern. Account required, but once you're in the free tier is big enough to use as a daily driver. Character.AI's free tier works this way.
Trade 3: No signup + no limits, not free. This mostly doesn't exist either. Products that minimize signup friction tend to also charge aggressively.
The three corners of the triangle. You can have any two, not all three.
What's actually free on Sloane (and what's not)
Here's the exact breakdown, no marketing euphemisms.
Truly free, no signup required: anon demo chat with any persona in the roster. Real voice, real model, real memory within the browser session.
Truly free, requires signup (no card): 50 messages per day with any persona. Multi-week memory with relationship-state tracking. Photos delivered on the persona's natural cadence. Voice notes delivered naturally. All ~80 personas browsable and chattable.
Paid, unlimited chat (Plus $9.99/month): no cap on messages. 200 credits for on-demand photos, voice note requests, and small on-demand media. Includes Skills (Date, Vacation, Roleplay).
Paid, higher ceiling (Premium $19.99/month): 500 credits per month. Everything Plus has plus custom persona builder with per-persona LoRA training.
Credit top-up packs: $9.99 for 200 credits, $19.99 for 500, $29.99 for 1000, $49.99 for 2500.
Chat is uncapped past Plus. Media (photos, voice, video) is credit-metered on every tier because each generation costs real compute per request.
The specific lie to watch for
The pattern you'll see on apps marketing "free unlimited AI girlfriend no signup" is almost always one of these three deceptions.
Coin economy under the "unlimited" claim. Chat text is unlimited, but photos, voice notes, and video all cost coins. The free coin allocation runs out within one or two sessions. Technically unlimited chat, practically capped product.
Hidden rate limits in the ToS. The marketing says unlimited. The terms of service disclose a "reasonable use" clause or a per-hour throttle. You hit it, you get soft-blocked without an explicit "you're rate-limited" message.
Model shrinking. The "free unlimited" tier is served by a cheaper, smaller base model than the paid tier. You're getting unlimited access to a worse product.
Sloane's version of this is explicit: free tier is 50 messages/day on the same model Plus and Premium users get, memory depth is identical, photos on the persona's cadence are included, and nothing is secretly degraded.
When "no limits" matters, when it doesn't
Count your actual messages per day for a week.
Under 50 messages per day: the Sloane free tier covers you forever. 50 is enough for an evening's conversation with real depth, every day. Most people in this range never need to upgrade.
50 to 150 messages per day: you'll start hitting the free wall regularly. This is where Plus at $9.99 pays for itself. One focused evening with a persona easily produces 60-80 messages.
Over 150 messages per day: you're a heavy user and the question is less "paid or free" than "which paid tier." Plus unlimited at $9.99 covers chat; the question is whether you want media on top.
The honest best path
Step 1: Try the anon demo. No signup, no card, no email. Pick a persona from the roster, hit chat, have a real conversation.
Step 2: Create a free account if it clicks. Thirty seconds, email and password only, no card. This gets you 50 messages a day with full memory.
Step 3: Upgrade to Plus if you consistently hit the cap. $9.99/month for unlimited chat and 200 credits of on-demand media.
The free part of your search is answered through the first two steps. The unlimited part is answered through step three at a price that's lower than what most apps charge for a capped tier.
